Rhino Readers is part of our Ultimate membership. Written by teachers to perfectly complement your children’s phonics journey, this exciting collection of books will grow to create the perfect reading scheme, helping you to create confident, enthusiastic and independent readers.
How can I use the books with my class?
We have the full Rhino Readers available to order. In addition the ebooks can be seen either on the Rhino Readers landing page or through the Rhino Readers App (via the Apple Store or Google Play.) Teachers can use the app for free with their Twinkl login. Make sure your app is updated to the latest version, where your login information is autosaved and you will see the newest books available.
For a child to read one of the books at home or on devices in the classroom, you can assign the book as a lesson using the Planner tool, which can be accessed by clicking on the blue tab on the right hand side of the screen when logged in to the Twinkl website. The lesson will be given a PIN code that parents can type into the Twinkl Go page to access the book. Further information on using the Planning tool can be found here.
How can parents use the app themselves?
Parents can subscribe to the app too, via a monthly subscription from the Apple Store or Google Play. This is a more cost effective option than an Ultimate subscription and will give them access to all the Rhino Readers books.
How can I buy the printed books?
There are 96 books across levels 2 - 6 and the titles of the printed books match the titles of the ebooks. If you would like to place an order for your school, please get in touch with us at schools@twinkl.co.uk and we will be happy to get this arranged for you.
How much do the books cost?
1 full set of all level books (96 books) | £2.99 each | £287.04 per set |
1 set of level books - Level 2 only (24 books) | £3.39 each | £81.36 per set |
1 set of level books - Levels 3 - 6 only (18 books) | £3.39 each | £61.02 per set |
What other books can I use in school to support the phonics scheme?
As the Twinkl Phonics scheme follows Letters and Sounds from Phases 1 - 4, any decodable readers which match the phases of Letters and Sounds can also be used to support Twinkl Phonics. At levels 5-6, Twinkl Phonics follows a slightly different order of teaching: you can check the sounds and tricky words covered at each level with this guide. Again, any books containing these taught sounds and tricky words can be used to support children’s learning. Please note that colour banding systems used by other publishers can vary.
How do I see the Twinkl Phonics scheme of work?
The Twinkl Phonics scheme of work has been fully validated by the Department for Education. You can see all the plans and resources from the Phonics landing page.
