What Network Connections are Used by Twinkl's Range of Apps?
In this article, you'll find all the answers you need to understand what network connections are used (optional / required) by Twinkl's range of apps.
Commonly Used Network Connections
The following four services (and stated urls) are used by nearly all of Twinkl's range of apps:
1) Apple App Store / Google Play Store - Required to download, install and update Twinkl's apps, and for paid apps specifically, to allow purchases and allow purchases to be restored. Refer to latest store guidance for support.
2) Twinkl's API (https://api.twinkl.co.uk/*) - used to validate Twinkl user logins to apps and provide various content to the apps, for example, search results and downloadable content.
Many of Twinkl's apps will continue to function normally without access to api.twinkl.co.uk , depending upon the model of how you are using the app. However, you will not be able to sign-in as a Twinkl member, or download additional app content without access to api.twinkl.co.uk.
(If you are using signed-in access) Once signed in, Twinkl's apps will not require you to sign-in again for a number of weeks, even if you are offline. Once the app needs to verify your membership status, it will ask you to log in again.
3) Firebase Analytics - (https://app-measurement.com/*) & (https://*.googleapis.com/*) - used for crash and performance reporting.
Twinkl's apps will continue to function normally without access to Firebase Analytics.
4) RevenueCat (https://api.revenuecat.com/*) used for in-app subscriptions
Many of Twinkl's apps will continue to function normally without access to RevenueCat , depending upon the model of how you are using the app. However, you may experience issues purchasing or restoring purchases.
App Specific Used Network Connections
The following apps have additional requirements beyond those covered in the previous "common required network settings" section, or further clarification/information is given.
Twinkl Symbols - Access to api.twinkl.co.uk is optionally required to use the optional Twinkl illustration and Twinkl Symbols search features found within the "Symbol Workshop" area and used when searching for new symbols not already included in the app.
