Launching Twinkl Spelling for Web
To launch our Twinkl Spelling for Web Learner Dashboard App, simply head over to the Twinkl Spelling for Web landing page and click the ‘Launch’ button at the top of the landing page.
You must be signed in to explore Twinkl Spelling for Web and your level of Twinkl membership will determine the content and features you can access. All Twinkl members can explore the first six levels of each world for FREE.
Once launched, you’ll be greeted by a welcome message to decipher whether you’re accessing the game as a learner or an adult.
If you enter the game as an adult, and dependant upon your membership type, you’ll see one of two messages. From the welcome message, select ‘Explore Mode’ to get started with free access to the first six levels of each spelling world. Please note, within the demo mode your progress will not be saved and default settings will be used.
If you’re already an Ultimate member, you’re able to add up to 50 Learner Logins via the ‘Manage Learner Logins’ link (this will be explained further in our Walkthrough - Part Four).
Alternatively, a learner can log in directly on our Learner Login page:
Signing in via the Learner Login page will take the learner to their My Learner Dashboard page. From here, they can access any of the apps that have been assigned to them. For example, they can tap the Spelling icon to open Twinkl Spelling for Web.
Twinkl Spelling for Web world menu
When a learner logs in to our Twinkl Spelling for Web Learner Dashboard App, they’re presented with the world menu screen. Depending on which worlds have been assigned by their adult, they’ll have access to up to six worlds. Each world corresponds to spelling objectives from different year groups, aligned to our Twinkl Planit Spelling scheme (see Twinkl Spelling for Web level menu).
To enter any world, learners simply need to click ‘Enter’.
In the top left, learners will see an arrow button, which allows them to return to their Learner Dashboard menu.
In the top right, learners will see a full screen button, which allows them to switch to full screen mode.
Twinkl Spelling for Web level menu
Within our Twinkl Spelling for Web Learner Dashboard App, there are six separate worlds which relate to the spelling rules and statutory exception words from the National Curriculum for England and align perfectly with our Twinkl Planit Spelling scheme:
- Link’s Speed Rink - Year 1 PlanIt Spelling scheme - primarily aimed at children aged 5-6;
- Intel’s B’Ball Court - Year 2 PlanIt Spelling scheme - primarily aimed at children aged 6-7;
- Nova’s Breakbeat Studio - Year 3 PlanIt Spelling scheme - primarily aimed at children aged 7-8;
- Garrus’ Climbing Wall - Year 4 PlanIt Spelling scheme - primarily aimed at children aged 8-9;
- Oxa’s BMX Track - Year 5 PlanIt Spelling scheme - primarily aimed at children aged 9-10;
- Kylo’s Kumite Dojo - Year 6 PlanIt Spelling scheme - primarily aimed at children aged 10-11.
After entering a world, a learner will see the level menu. How many levels they have access to will depend on decisions made by their adult. This can vary from having access to just one level to focus on this set of words all the way up to having full access to all thirty-six levels in one of our worlds.
Each level corresponds to a week of the term - Term 1A Week 1 through to Term 3B Week 6 for Years 1 to 6 - and consists of a set of ten words that reinforce the corresponding spelling objective covered in our Twinkl Planit Spelling scheme.
Learners can scroll up and down to see all the levels that have been assigned to them.
Remember: if you are an Ultimate Twinkl member, you will be able to access all levels; all other members will only have access to Term 1A content.
Within the level menu, a learner can click either ‘Train’ or ‘Compete’. If a learner clicks ‘Train’, this will open up the train game menu; if a learner clicks ‘Compete’, they’ll be launched directly into compete mode.
Twinkl Spelling for Web train games
After clicking ‘Train’, the train game menu will load. The menu will show the six train games we have available for every level (Word Search; Word Jumble; React!; React! Extreme; Whack & Spell; and Look, Cover, Write, Check), which can be launched by pressing the ‘Go’ button. Like in the level menu, you can also edit the game settings, toggle full screen and exit/provide feedback:
Experience the thrill of spelling like never before with our six exciting train games:
- Wordsearch: embark on a word-hunting adventure by tackling our exciting word searches, which are available for every level!
- Word Jumble: see a word, then spell it correctly using a mix of jumbled letters - perfect for anagram enthusiasts!

Twinkl Spelling for Web in-game navigation
In the example video below, the learner has clicked ‘Go’ for the React! Extreme game.
You can see that the learner will first see the relevant game instructions. After reading these, the learner can press ‘Start’ to begin the game.
At any point, again depending on the game settings, a learner can leave a game and return to the menu.
All of this is shown in the example video below and our compete game works in exactly the same way:
