Learn, Educate, Break down Barriers
What is Black Representation?
Black Representation is our expertly designed curriculum for the whole school, created to help every educator teach about Black heritage and identity with confidence. It covers a huge range of topics for use all year round, so educators can increase positive representation in their teaching.
What topics are covered?
6 units of work have been written for year 1 through to year 6. Each unit pack contains 6 hours worth of work, split into 6 separate lessons. Topics include Great African Empires, Black Britain, Black Inventors, Black Heroes in STEM, Amazing Black Children, and Identity and Belonging.
Each unit will be explored in further depth and detail with different examples as children move up through each year group.
Each unit is a stand alone unit so that educators can choose the order in which to deliver them. Units will be explored in further depth and detail as children move up through each year group.
Black Representation resources have been designed to help you celebrate Black stories all year round. With links to a range of subject objectives, including history and PSHE, units easily fit alongside your existing teaching.
